In this talk, we'll describe our motivation and journey of re-architecting the StarTree Cloud platform, powered by Apache Pinot. The talk will be centered around how we introduced the concept of "workspace" — a logical entity to provide isolation on a single cluster with shared infrastructure. We'll walk through how we architected everything with workspace-first thinking throughout the stack, from the onboarding app, to data management and ingestion, to the Pinot cluster management. We'll also dive into integral security issues like our RBAC implementation.
